Casa de Amor, an ABCS’ Community Resource Center, had over $9,000 in supplies donated to their annual Back to School drive. On the day of the distribution, the room was full of volunteers and backpacks stuffed with supplies such as binders, notebooks, pencils and more. The backpacks were organized by color and grade level of the supplies. Every child who came picked out their favorite one.
Owen’s Story
Owen* is a father who attended the event with his three children. He explained to the volunteer helping them how financially hard this year had been for him. When he heard about the distribution, he felt relieved that it was one less thing he would not have to find a way to provide. The children were excited as they went from table to table looking for the perfect backpack. All three left wearing their backpacks and Owen was grateful for the gift given to their family.
This was all made possible thanks to everyone who donated supplies or financial gifts, as well as, the volunteers who shopped, packed supplies and helped the kids with their backpack shopping experience.
Thoughts from Our Director
Over 300 students received educational supplies from the Back to School drive. Tim Lesher, the director of Casa De Amor, said, “It takes all of us working together to ensure students are given all they need to learn and grow this school year! Thank you for helping be a part of what God did to provide hope to families.”
